Shots were fired at the DOC buliding in Watertown on Wednesday night.

By Brian Allen

Watertown police are offering a reward for anyone with information on yesterday's shooting into a DOC office and the home of a parole officer.

Today we also know a family was inside that home at the time, and they now have extra security protecting them as they search for the gunman.

At around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Watertown Police responded to the South Dakota Department of Corrections Office at 2001 9th Avenue SW in Watertown to investigate a report of shots that had been fired into the office.  No one was inside at the time of the shooting.

During the investigation, police learned a shot had also been fired into the home of a Department of Corrections Parole Agent.  No one was hurt.  The case is now under investigation by the Watertown Police Department, the Codington County Sheriff's Office and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation with the help of the Department of Corrections.

Investigators are asking for your help. If you have any information about the case, you're asked to call the Watertown Police Department TIPS line at (605) 882-6217. © 2009 KSFY Action News. All Rights Reserved.

Ryan, your concerns should focus soley upon the SD school system that so cruely failed you. Perhaps then you might learn the difference between "their: there:they're, it:it's, to:too:two," and myriad other wonderments of the English language.

Ryan, Sounds like you have a little experience with Watertown's finest?? Maybe been in the system?? Read the news story before you make such a stupid comment. The first call came in at 7:27am. The next call came after 2pm and that is why the street was blocked off later. Get your facts straight before you comment.

maybe they should check to see where ETHAN JOHNS was at that moment. If all else fails they can allways attempt to pin it on him....

Ryan, I don't believe the police would ever come share with you about anything they find regarding a case. Maybe instead of dreaming up stories you should find a hobby that's a bit more productive.

I would like to nominate you for citizen of the month. Your intellect far surpasses that of the average South Dakotan. Watertown is a much better place with you in it. 2, 4, 6, 8 ... who do we appreciate
