Five "Siouxland Urology" patients are suing the Dakota Dunes-based medical center, claiming their practice of re-using medical supplies placed them in danger.

 22 pages comprise the first lawsuit filed against "Siouxland Urology Center" in Dakota Dunes.

 Five former patients are suing for damages, saying "Siouxland Urology" was negligent in caring for them by repeatedly using medical supplies on different patients, possibly exposing them to blood borne illnesses such as Hepatitis and HIV.
 And more lawsuits may be on the way.

 "Siouxland Urology Center" informed 57-hundred of it's patients of the medical risk and asked them all to undergo blood tests to make sure no one was infected with anything after the center used one time medical supplies again and again on their patients.
 The lawsuit contends "Siouxland Urology" knew the practice was wrong but did it anyway, placing lives in danger as a result.
 The five people filing the lawsuit are all from Iowa;
 William Collins, Theresa Kinney, Katherine Moir, James Peter and Gloria Todd.
 All are represented by attorneys with the Sioux Falls' firm of "Woods, Fuller, Shultz and Smith".
 One of their attorneys, Bill Beck, declined our request for an interview but told me on the phone, the concerns of the lawsuit speak for themselves.
 In addition, Action News has learned several law firms in Sioux City, Iowa have been contacted by "Siouxland Urology" patients who are thinking about suing.
 We requested an interview with "Siouxland Urology" staff and our calls went unreturned.
 In addition, "Action News" has learned the office of Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller is reviewing the situation, as many of "Siouxland Urology's" patients are from Iowa.

 We told you last week, South Dakota's Department of Health sent information about "Siouxland Urology's" billing practices to the Inspector General's office with the U-S Department of Health and Human Services.
 A HHS spokesman told us he can not divulge if the feds are investigating "Siouxland Urology".

I was one of the patients that received treatment, and I got the results of my blood test. I have contracted Hep B because of there reclass use of equipment. I do not beleive in fervulous lawsuits, but if they don't pay for my treatment I will get all I can get.
