Deuel County State's Attorney Greg Stoltenburg says 29 year old Jacob James Stark made some threats and fired shots. He was arrested for attempted murder.

Action News Found out that at one point the alleged gunman was still on the loose and authorities evacuated people for safety reasons.

He joins us live in studio to tell us what folks there are saying about what happened.

This happened west of the small town of Gary in northeast South Dakota. Even though the incident happened outside the city limits. Everyone inside the city seemed to be very interested in what happened.

I talked to many residents who were willing to share what they knew, but wanted to remain anonymous. They all knew someone who had been evacuated from the area of the incident early on Sunday Morning. According to the local residents, the evacuations were made very quickly.

Residents also told Action News that there was a time where 29 year old Jacob James Stark was missing before he was found holed up in an abandoned house That's when shots were fired at the responding authorities. Police were on the scene through much of the morning and one resident said very bright lights lit up the scene.

Police took many precautions, going as far as not allowing high schoolers to leave the Clear Lake Prom and travel back to Gary. Announcements were made on local radio about the situation as well, making this ordeal the talk of the 231 person town.

We want to hear from you if you were evacuated that night. You can e-mail us at youask@ksfy.com or you can call at (605) 336-9999
