Flandreau Indian School Gets $23M Stimulus

Federal stimulus money will fund improvements at the Flandreau Indian School in eastern South Dakota.

Several Native American school districts in the state are in line to receive money, but Flandreau's getting the most - more than $23 million.

The Flandreau school's 270 students come from 48 tribes and 25 states.

Most of the money will be used to update buildings such as dorms, upgrade heating and cooling systems and make repairs to the aging buildings.

You have to realize that not only is there a school, but a boys dorm & girls dorm. I'm 51 and my mother went to school there! Probably still has radiators.

seriously, that is a lot of dough when they only have 270 students!!!! they'd probly be better off rebuilding instead of updating if the facilities are that bad that they need 23M! what's up with that!!!! BTW, not saying they don't deserve it, my point is merely that that amount of money is extreme and they can probably divide it up a little better than that. They gonna have gold plated toilets or what!
