South Dakota is watching two possible cases of the Swine Flu. One is out of Marshall county and the other is in Minnehaha County. Just this afternoon, state health officials said they tested 150 specimens. None of them were the Swine Flu.

The health department has set up a number for those with questions about the virus. The number is 1-800-892-1861

Iowa Governor Chet Culver declared after test confirmed the state's first case of Swine flue. Health officials say a southeast Iowa woman got sick with the virus after returning from Mexico. There are now seven probable cases of the flu in Iowa. Six are in Marshall County and one in Tama County.

In Minnesota, Swine Flu fears have the Roman Catholic Churches taking special precautions. In fact, the Saint Cloud Diocese has asked parishioners not to shake or hold hands during mass tomorrow. The instructions came from Bishop John Kinney who sent a letter to more than 100 parishes in the diocese. Bishop Kinney also asked that churches provide hand sanitizer and tissues to church goers.

I am always amazed at how different things are handled from place to place. Marshall County didn't close the school, and had a concert that had family members of the victim present, even after KNOWING that the father of two of the students was the PROBABLE case. These kids were in school until Friday, when they finally pulled them out. There was a track meet that involved various people that had close contact with the victims family present, on Saturday. The day care at the Y in SUFU closed.. hmm

marshall Co. had the probable case, but allowed the kids of the man infected to participate in a concert Thursday evening, attend school STILL on Friday, until they were then removed, and had a track meet, that had in attendence people that have had close contact with the family. You call these precautions? I guess you only become concerned and WANT to do what is smart, to stop any spread of the infection, if you live in a large town, like Sioux Falls. No one knows for sure what this will bring.

Until the case is confirmed to be true Swine Flu, I feel we should all keep our lives as normal as possible but use good hygeine. Oviously our school is figuring everyone has already been exposed why don't we see what turns up. As a parent until it is confirmed to be true Swine Flu I think we should all relax. After the confim. I was told the school has a plan in place weither the test is neg or pos. The school also sent home a note about the case to all High School and Elem. parents on Fri.
