PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- State and local agencies are holding events in 8 South Dakota cities during May to help make sure parents and others know how to install and use child safety seats properly.

The demonstrations will be held May 2 in Rapid Valley, May 8 in Pierre, May 12 in Onida and Wagner, May 15 in Watertown, May 18 in Flaudreau, May 19 in Canton, and May 22 in Kennebec.

The events are part of Project 8, which is intended to remind parents, child care providers and others to use the proper restraint system for a child's height and weight. It also distributes infant seats, toddler seats and booster seats to low-income families.
