Attempted Murder in Spirit Lake

A 21 year old Spirit Lake, Iowa man is in police custody this morning after stabbing a woman, causing serious injuries.

Shortly after 11 last night, police responded to an assault call in Spirit Lake and that's when they discovered the victim.

Jeffery Russel Wittler has been charged with attempted murder and is being held in the Dickinson County Jail.

The victim has been transferred to a Sioux Falls Hospital and the case remains under investigation.
