Cool, Wet Weather Slows Field Work, Helps SoilCool, wet weather in South Dakota last week slowed field work but helped replenish soil moisture. The weekly crop report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture says reporting points in Oelrichs and Hot Springs had nearly 3 inches of rain last week, although the north central and northeastern portions of South Dakota were considerably drier. Topsoil moisture increased to 74 percent in the adequate to surplus categories, a gain of 14 percentage points from the previous week. Subsoil moisture is 75 percent adequate to surplus.
