New developments today in the Iowa High School shooting that left a long time coach dead.

An Iowa hospital is confirming they treated 24-year old Mark Becker and released him shortly before he allegedly gunned down his former football coach.

Officials at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa said they were not asked to notify authorities before releasing him. Becker was arrested Saturday after allegedly threatening a Cedar Falls homeowner with a bat and leading police on a high speed chase. Butler County deputies say the suspect was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric exam.

Hospital officials say he was released on Tuesday. Sometime after officials believe Becker walked into the Aplington-Parkesburg High School weight room and shot football coach Ed Thomas. The 58 year old coach was honored at a vigil today at the Aplington-Parkersburg football field. His suspected killer is being held on one milllion dollars bond.
