Health Care Reform Takes Center Stage

Tools

Sen. Tim Johnson and Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin took testimony on Tuesday about reforming the nation's health care on a day when protesters decried changes sought by President Barack Obama.

An audience of 85 people heard nine witnesses describe personal
hardship and system flaws that they say health care reforms might
address.

Johnson says he would not rule out a tax increase to pay for the changes ahead.

Herseth Sandlin says she will insist that any changes be revenue-neutral.

Tuesday evening, 145 people met at a Sioux Falls park to rally against changes Congress is considering. A similar event is set for Thursday afternoon, also in Sioux Falls.
