Corn Growers Head Asks Obama Intervention In Case

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - The president of the American Corn Growers Association, Keith Bolin, has asked President Barack Obama to intervene in the case of a man who owes nearly $16,000 in court costs to Tyson Fresh Meats after losing a price-fixing lawsuit against the huge meatpacker.
Bolin says he wrote Obama and asked him to come to the aid of Herman Schumacher of Herreid.
U.S. marshals have placed a legal notice on Schumacher's door, which is to remain until he pays the money approved by a federal judge.
Schumacher has said it's embarrassing but that he must pay the money.
Tyson said in a letter that it will not seize Schumacher's home and will work with him on a way to get the money he owes.
