By Brian Allen

Criminals were hard at work over the last seven days.
17 burglary reports were filed with Sioux Falls Police over the last seven days.

8 of them happened in a small area....4th Street on the north, 16th Street on the south, Menlo Avenue on the west and Spring Avenue on the east.

Also tonight, Mitchell Police need your help to solve a break in as Sioux Falls authorities remind you...keep your car in a safe place.

Sioux Falls Police tell Action News they are seeing an increase in the number of cars being broken into...not only within city limits but also in outlying communities as well.
The thieves are looking for car stereos and electronics, purses and cash.
And police advise if you can't park in a garage, lock your car and park it in a well lit area.
Mitchell Police are looking into a business break-in in the 800 block of North Rowley.
The business was a Slumberland. Whoever broke in emptied a fire extinguisher before stealing more than 2,000 dollars in cash and checks.
