The Codington County Commission approved a request from the state's attorney to purchase a sophisticated computer program for use during the murder trial of David Amotun.

The 21-year-old Amotun is accused of killing 18-year-old Brandy Cotton. She was found dead Jan. 30 in her grandmother's home in Watertown.

State's Attorney Dawn Elshere said the computer program can record all the evidence onto a DVD that can be played to the jury. It costs $12,500 after a discount. Elshere said it will help jurors understand the large amount of evidence.

Amotun's trial has been delayed until fall.

Yes that is a lot of money to spend on a piece of equipment, but if it will help the jury see all of the evidence. If this means the right person would be conficted then that is what we need
