Record South Dakota Deer Harvest in 2008

Tools

Hunter surveys compiled by the state Department of Game, Fish and Parks indicate a record number of deer were killed by South Dakota hunters last year.

An estimated 74,000 white-tailed deer and 18,000 mule deer were shot. It's the ninth straight year of increase.

Overall harvest success was 48 percent. Around 189,000 deer tags
were issued last year.

The number of deer tags and the deer harvest in 2008 doubled from 10 years ago.
