Seifert Sets Run for Minn. Governor in Motion

Another candidate is off and running in Minnesota's wide-open governor's race.

State Rep. Marty Seifert (SEYE'-fert) is making his candidacy official Tuesday. The announcement is coming at the front end of a four-day, 14-city tour.

Seifert, of Marshall, is the highest-ranking Republican to enter the race so far. Until last month, he was minority leader in the Minnesota House.

Several other Republican legislators plan to run, and some former officeholders are giving it serious consideration. The GOP flurry was touched off by Gov. Tim Pawlenty's decision not to try for a third term.

Democrats also have a packed field with no clear favorite.
