Enjoying Life's Little Moments

By Jim Nelson

These days, it seems everyone is a blogger. Topics range anywhere from sports to politics, but few are using it as a tool to really better themselves.

We found a local woman who is on a 30-day blogging adventure. For her, its become a personal vow to enjoy life's little moments.

Elizabeth Hagen turned 55 the first of July. It was then that she decided she would take time to reflect on life's little moments through a daily blog.

"This adventure makes me stop every night and take the time to think about my day and get perspective on the day before I start this next new day," says Hagen.

Now ten days old, the journey of discovery has provided her a chance to put things into perspective. For instance, her family life, which is just one of her driving forces. In fact, on day seven of the blog. Hagen wrote about her sister-in-law's two little boy's who are visiting this month all the way from Dubai. She recalled a recent trip to the movie theater. "Their little faces were just enthralled in the screen. They were totally in the moment, not thinking about what they're doing after the movie, or later that night...they were totally in the moment."

Hagen works as a professional speaker and says this online adventure has helped her both professionally and personally. "If I can inspire you to action and change your life, then I've done my job."

It's a job that sometimes requires nothing more than understanding the little things in life.

"Every night when I look back on the day, no matter what has happened, I am so filled with gratitude. I can always find that one moment that means something."

Every night when we get to bed, my husband asks me "What was the best thing today?" We both reflect on the best thing. That thing that happened that I was most grateful for that day. Sometimes it's hard to think of one, and other times it's hard to pick from many. Most days, there are far more than you would think. I know it has changed my life to purposefully look for the moments in life i am so grateful for... to seek out the good. It's there, no matter what, if I look!
