Two Die In Hand County Accident

By KSFY Staff

At 3:10 this afternoon, Hand County Emergency Responders responded to a vehicle that had left the roadway and came rest in water. The accident occurred at the Rose Hill Recreation Area that is southwest of Wessington. A dozen agencies responded to the incident.

The vehicle was occupied by Kathernia Naw, 33 of Huron, and Nang Zin Naing, 1, also of Huron.

Naw was driving a 200 Toyota Camry that was traveling westbound on 212th street as it approaches the Rose Hill Recreational Area. Apparently, Naw lost control on a curvy road and ended up in the south ditch and entered the lake where it became submerged. Neither the driver nor the passenger were able to escape the submerged vehicle.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
