Tenth Anniversary of Gina Score's Death

By KSFY News

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the death of Gina Score. She died of heat exhaustion after a mandatory run at the former state training school in Plankinton. A jury acquitted two state employees of wrongdoing in Score's death. But it prompted the state to close the reform school in 2001. The executive director of what is now the Aurora Plains Academy says the physical and programming changes at the school are noticeable. He says instead of a military style boot camp, counselors work with juveniles who have substance abuse, mental health and sexual issues.
