South Dakota is getting $772,000 from the federal government for a state-run rebate program that encourages consumers to buy energy efficient appliances.

The program is intended for larger appliances like furnaces, air conditioners and washing machines.

The state will decide which appliances are covered, the size of the rebates, and how the program will be administered.

The money is part of the federal stimulus plan.
