South Dakota U-S Senator Tim Johnson testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, urging them to approve the nomination of Jeff Viken as a U-S District Court Judge for South Dakota.

Viken is a graduate of the U-S-D Law School and is currently a federal public defender based out of Rapid City; he handles cases in both North and South Dakota.

President Obama nominated Viken to the bench after receiving a recommendation from Senator Johnson.
If confirmed, Viken would replace retiring District Judge Lawrence Piersol.
