Bon Homme District Could Close Some Schools

Big changes could be in the works for the Bon Homme school district. Superintendent Bryce Knudson says the district will need $400,000 in additional funding for the 2010-2011 school year. Plus, he says, expenses continue to rise. The district has about 570 students at Tyndall, Springfield and Tabor. The superintendent says several cost-cutting measures have been mentioned, including closing district elementary schools in Springfield and Tabor. Knudson says closing those schools would be a dis-service to the parents and students and he worries about losing some of the students to open enrollment.
