Storms Knock Out Power In South Dakota

Communities around South Dakota have some cleaning up to do this morning after storms passed through Sunday night.

Action News spoke to police in Beresford who say a number a power lines were knocked down, causing power to be lost. As of 5:30 this morning, some areas were still without power and officials were working to get it restored.

In Mitchell, it was more of the same. Police say storms stripped power lines off poles causing temporary outages. It appears power has been restored in that area. In the Alexandria area, we've received reports of hail damage to vehicles and windows in homes.

In all communities, the extent of the damage should be more clear once Emergency Management officials are able to survey their communities.
