Couple Receives Suspended SentencesThe mother of a 10-year-old girl who disappeared from Hitchcock in 2006 has received a three-year suspended jail sentence for illegally removing the girl from the state. Thirty-nine-year-old Eileen Sharp also must pay $4,200 in restitution and be on probation for four years. In court on Tuesday, Sharp apologized for her role in the disappearance of Shanae Marie Peterson. She said she wants to re-establish a relationship with her daughter. Shanae Peterson was 8 in August 2006 when she was to have been returned to her father in Hitchcock. Authorities said Eileen Sharp and her husband, Perry Sharp, fled South Dakota with Shanae about that time. Federal authorities say a tip received through "America's Most Wanted" resulted in the Sharps' arrest in Canada in October 2008. Perry Sharp got a 30-day suspended jail term in the case. © 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
