Escaped SD Inmate Accused Of Vehicle Theft

Tools

An inmate who escaped from a minimum-security prison in Rapid City and was captured the next day is accused of stealing three vehicles.

Stanley County Sheriff Brad Rathbun says 20-year-old Matthew Long Fox allegedly stole one vehicle in Rapid City and two in Fort Pierre. Charges are pending.

The Department of Corrections says Long Fox wasn't present at a head count on Saturday night. He was captured Sunday in Brule County in central South Dakota.

Long Fox was about one year into a five-year sentence for distributing marijuana before the escape.
