Daktronics Lays Off Workers in Sioux Falls

Tools

Brookings-based Daktronics Inc. is laying off 25 assembly line workers at its digital billboard factory in Sioux Falls, citing a drop in business.

Daktronics says the two major billboard companies it supplies have cut back considerably since late last year.

Daktronics recently reported that its net income in the first quarter of the year plunged 85 percent from the previous year.

The Sioux Falls plant will continue to employ 150 workers.

Layoffs at DAKT are an annual event. they typically hire more than they need with the plan to eliminate them later. Many workers at DAKT think they are working in a sweat shop, and I think they are right!
