Police say a 57-year old officer who served with the North St. Paul Police for nine years was shot and killed Monday morning.

Public safety officials say Officer Richard Crittenden was fatally wounded while responding to a domestic call at an apartment building.

Two officers responded to the call where someone had reported a protection order violation.

The officers did struggle with the suspect who was also shot and killed during the incident.

The other officer who was injured was treated and released.

The name of the suspect and the officer who survived are not yet being released.
