USD Student Dies in Overnight Crash

The Highway Patrol says a University of South Dakota student was killed in a crash just east of Vermillion on State Highway 50 shortly before midnight.

21-year-old Elizabeth Lias of Sioux Falls died at the scene.

According to the highway patrol, her car was struck by another car driving on the wrong side of the road.

The driver of the other vehicle, USD student 20-year-old Alyxandra Harter of Omaha, was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
