211th Activated, Family and Friends Say Goodbye

The men and women of the 211th engineer company of Madison and De Smet were activated today. They are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Action News photojournalist Troy Timmerman attended today's ceremony and spoke with several soldiers and their families. Click the video link to see what they had to say.

Since the terrorist attacks on America, the South Dakota National Guard has mobilized more than 3,500 soldiers and 1,000 airmen.
