Dog Shot With .22 Caliber Gun In Akaska, SD

By KSFY Staff

An Akaska, SD woman is upset tonight after her dog was shot multiple times with a .22 caliber pistol. The former mayor of Akaska, Norm Kahl is accused of shooting the dog.

Erika Hanson's dog got out while she was out of town. There is a claim that the dog was attacking people. When Erica arrived home her dog, Buster, was under the steps of a local bar and Erica rushed him to the vet.

Erica said of the incident, "Oh, It was the most terrible thing that ever happened. It was really scary, there is a lot of kids in town and it happened in town right by main street and you know it was just something that was really scary."

If you attack a police dog its the same as attacking an officer why should it be different from family pets. I dont care how much a agency spends on an animal to protect and serv they should realize the sam loss as a family with a pet.
