Action News has learned that Minnehaha County first responders will receive H1N1 flu vaccinations on October 21st.

The Centers For Disease Control want health care workers vaccinated first.

After that, the vaccine will be made available, first to the very young and the very old.

Minnehaha County leaders say they don't know how many vaccine doses they will receive.

Meanwhile, several Harrisburg district students are starting to get sick and have been told by their doctors to stay home.

That's prompted extra cleaning at the Harrisburg High School: this as some parents ask Action News to find out why the district will not be notifying them of H1N1 infections at their child's school.

Superintendent Jim Holbeck says they're treating H1N1 just like the seasonal flu. "We're not getting too involved into what type of flu or if it's H1N1. We know we have kids sick with the flu," Holbeck said.

Holbeck says families should know if their children don't feel well and to keep them home from school.

We also learned that two flu shots clinics for Harrisburg students, one for tomorrow and one for next week, have now been cancelled because of a shortage of flu vaccine shots.
