Substantial Damage To Aurora, SD Elevator

On 10/20/09 at about 12:12 PM Brookings dispatch received a report of an Elevator Fire at AgFirst Coop in Aurora, SD. Aurora Fire Department, Brookings Fire Department, Brookings Ambulance, & the Brookings County Sheriff's Office responded to the call.

Upon investigation it appeared that the fire was caused by an overheating or malfunctioning dryer unit.

No one was injured during the fire and the fire is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff's Office.

The amount of damage is unknown at this time but it did appear to be substantial.

This information came from Sgt. Jon Pike from the Brookings County Sheriff's Office.
