Washington High School Student Gets "Everyday Hero" Award

Washington High School student Cedrick Hillyer received a big award on Monday. It's called the "everyday hero" award and it was given to Cedrick for her help in saving a boy who fell into the Big Sioux River at Falls Park back in June.

It was back in June when Cedrick and some friends pulled an 8 year old Nebraska boy out of the Big Sioux River at Falls Park. Cerick says he's shocked and honored by the award.

Cedrick said, "it means a lot because we saved some kid so he could have a future."

Also at Sioux Falls Washington, math teacher Kira Christensen received the Milken family foundation national educator award. She gets 25-thousand in cash. Christensen is being honored for using computers to help her kids understand complex math.
