Customers of a KFC Long John Silvers Restaurant on 9th Avenue in Watertown say tonight the business has overcharged their debit cards, running up a large bill. The KFC says this re-charging has happened on almost every transaction since april. they say they can't believe how big this problem has become.
"I talked to my bank today and she said when she called she was one of a couple hundred people that have already called," said Tori Feil. Tori was one of the lucky ones, if you can call her that, she used her card to pay here at the KFC twice since April and got re-billed again today totalling about $20.00.
Tori says, "I feel bad for the people, there are people who are regular customers there and all of the sudden they have $300-$400 charges coming through their account. A lot of people are are getting overdrawn and the banks don't really know what to do about it."
That was the same realm of thinking of KFC officials, after they received a handful of calls from customers.
Clint Fanning, the S & H Inc., "To be honest with you we didn't know what to do, I mean it hasn't been fun coming in the office everyday that's for sure, the phones have been ringing off the hook."
Fanning knows this hasn't been fun for customers like Tori and her Grandma wants customers to know he apologizes for the inconvenience.
Fanning adds, "It's not a reflection on the company that's for sure, it's kind of out of our hands and like I said we're doing everything in our power to get it fixed."
That means that everyone who has been double charged will see the money back in their account sometime soon.
Feil says she is willing to forgive KFC, "We're all so tight with our money now because of the economy anyway I think it might hurt them a little but I think definitely if there coming out and saying we're sorry, we're trying to do everything we can to fix it that kind of makes you feel a little bit better."
