Felony Charges Dropped Against Former Teacher

Tools

Authorities say felony sex crime charges against a former Hill City High School teacher are being dropped.

Sommar Chaffee, who taught music, was facing charges of solicitation of a minor and disseminating harmful material to a minor.

According to Pennington County State's Attorney Glenn Brenner, Chaffee will plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disseminating material harmful to minors. The top punishment for a conviction is a year in jail.

Chaffee is scheduled to enter her plea in the case on Nov. 23.

In April, the Hill City School Board voted not to renew Chaffee's contract. She was arrested in June.
