A federal farm agency is taking applications until the end of the month for grants to help farmers and business owners add value to South Dakota's agricultural products.

The USDA's Rural Development agency has $18 million available nationwide.

The agency's state director, Elsie Meeks, said planning grants of up to $100,000 and working capital grants of up to $300,000 are available. Successful applicants must provide matching funds equal to the amount of the grant they seek.
