2 SD Men Killed in Crash

Two Sisseton men were killed in a two-vehicle collision at a rural intersection east of New Effington.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 79-year-old Richard Chell was driving a pickup east on state Highway 257 and collided with another vehicle about 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Chell and his passenger, 95-year-old Winfield Thompson, died of their injuries.

The patrol say the driver of the other vehicle, 22-year-old Nicholas Helgeson of Hankinson, N.D., was not hurt. His passenger suffered minor injuries.

The patrol says alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
