A single vehicle accident just south of Beaver Creek, Minnesota last night has killed a 17 year old from Garretson.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office say that it appears that Tina Sandbulte lost control of her vehicle and was ejected from the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

There has already been a Facebook page created in memory of the 17 year old, and over 500 people have already joined the group.

1% of those thrown from the vehicle were wearing seat belts-that would be 99% chance that if you are not wearing a seat belt and you are thrown from the vehicle, you would not survive.45% of all accidents-which groups less serious with very serious, so obviously if it is a minor accident and you don't have a seat belt on, that will reflect the same as a major so the numbers get constrewed.

So its not quite 50/50. But 45% of people wearing seatbelts were killed?

I don't know if this had anything to do with this tragic accident but I blame the gravel roads on alot of these. There is nothing worse that having to gain control of your vehicle after getting sucked into a "windrow" left by the graders. It's hard enough for an experienced driver let alone these poor kids.Even going the speed limit or below its too easy to lose control.

Please do not do this on here. You are not respecting the family at ALL!! Nobody knows what happened but God and Tina... I understand the family wanting to know what happened but you who do not know Tina do not have to guess and say what u think happened. It doesnt matter. What does matter is that the family adn friends of Tina. So please do not do this on here about what she was doing or not doing. And for u who put prolly texting and driving... Does that make u feel good that u said that?!

The fact that this is a public forum does not forgive insensitivity. Civil folks, which we are becoming less and less all of the time, know when and where to share their comments. Your comments may belong on a post about seatbelts, laws or something, but not in a story about a teenager that had a horrible accident. Please try to be civil, if not have the courage to post your name so the family can know who out there is so uncaring towards them.

I believe everyone's mourning here has everything to do with the story, seeing that Tina IS "the story at hand." Have some respect. We'll all miss you Tina. Keep an eye on everyone, will you? See you soon.

I realize that this is a public forum and for people to talk about the story, but I think that it is also a place for those who want to, mourn Tina's death. It has been so heart breaking for everyone that Tina touched. Leave the seatbelt laws out of this. It would be different if it was involving you, wouldn't it?

maybe b/c in 55% of accident related deaths, the victims were not wearing their seat belts. Only 1% of the victims who were thrown from the vehicle (and didn't survive) were wearing a seat belt. I'm not putting this out here in disrespect, I'm trying to let people know how important it is to wear a seat belt...go to the facebook page to remember your friend. I agree with to whom it may concern that this is a public forum -there is nothing wrong with discussing a topic on a NEWS BLOG.

i dont see how so many of you can argue and be so focused on a seat belt law when some family has lost there family member ?

BTW Bob, case in point-read the article on keloland about the crash in pennington county.

It is tragic and I'm very sorry to the family, but this is a public forum to discuss the story at hand. If you want to go somewhere to remember your friend/family member, go to the funeral home website-they usually have a place for that there.

Honestly you're going to get into an argument about seatbelt laws on this? Have some respect. Take your opinions on laws to your state legislatures, you're insulting the memory of Tina. You can argue that it should be your own choice, but you can NOT dispute that they save lives. Tina we all love and miss you. I know you're watching down from the heaven's, keeping an eye on us.

have some respect! this isn't just somewhere you can talk about laws...this is for people to mourn tina's leaving us all.

Where are you facts?

Sunday, Nov 8 at 2:40 PM to whom it may concern wrote ...

seat belts are meant to save lives,Bob. Yes, there are cases where not wearing one has been better than wearing one,but these cases are minimal compared to the number of lives that could have been saved by having one on. Being alive b/c of not wearing a seatbelt is just like any other freak accident. Why don't you get the facts instead of spouting off about your opinion. You have nothing to base your "50-50 survival" platform on!

Tina we all miss you. not seeing you around town and talking to you will be so weird. i dont think it has really sunk in yet. My prayers go out to the Sandbulte family.

Anytime anyone dies in a car accident, the first thing they ask is if they were wearing a seatbelt. Why??? Its their own choice and none of anyone elses business whether they were wearing it. Seat belt laws are only for making MONEY!!!

Sunday, Nov 8 at 10:07 AM Anonymous wrote ...

What is wrong with you people this is not the place to get in to the seat belt law. You don't have any facts to talk about anything

Sunday, Nov 8 at 8:45 AM bob wrote ...

How do you know a seatbelt would have prevented this? You have a 50-50 chance with or without a seatbelt. There have been a lot of cases where the person wearing a seatbelt would have been alive if not wearing it. Seatbelt laws are just there so the states can make money!! Should be our own choice, no different than a helmet on a motorcycle!!!

A seatbelt would have prevented this. Such a senseless preventable tragedy. Her family and friends will never be the same. How many more must die before people start to wear seatbelts?
