Two Sisseton Residents Dead In Collision

Friday just east of Effington, a two car collision had taken the lives of 79 year old Richard W. Chell, and 95 year old Winfield J. Thompson both of Sisseton.

Chell who was driving a ’92 Toyota Pickup, and 22 year old Nicholas J. Helgeson driving a ’94 Jeep Cherokee had collided at the intersection of Highway 127 and 466th Avenue.

Chell was pronounced dead on the scene; the passenger with Chell, Winfield J. Thompson died later in a Fargo Hospital.

Helgeson was uninjured, along with passenger 15 year old Mathew J. Helgeson who had suffered minor injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
