Council Says 4.8 Million for Library Is Too Much

The Aberdeen City Council says they don't have the kind of cash it will cost to build a new library in the Hub City.

City officials say the $4.8 million the library foundation is asking for is just too much, even though the library in town does need to be updated.

The city manager says this does not mean that the city council is not in favor of a new library. The council is asking the library foundation to explore other options.

The library task force is now looking at the current Coventry Building as a possible option.
