South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds says the health care reform bill would break the state's budget.

He says the bill, which was passed by the US House of Representatives last weekend, would make everyone earning less than 150 percent of the federal poverty level eligible for Medicaid.

The Governor says the House bill would cost South Dakota $134 million for a five-year period from 2015 to 2019.

I am in total agreement with what you wrote. This is huge and it can not be undone once voted for. It's gone beyond answering the problems for health care and implemented ridiculous add ons, such as fining those that don't have insurance. This bill is absurd and I hope when it's enacted and messes up the American system, remember who voted for it and vote them out.

I wont believe my rates will go down until I see it happen. We pay out so much every month, it is more than our house mortgage. And when govt takes over the health care circus, costs will skyrocket IMO. The govt cannot do anything better than the private sector. Too bad bevcause we need help with healthcare costs...

I am 100% for making the rates affordable, allowing cross state competition and changing some of the pre-existing practices that insurance companies pull. But I am also 100% for NOT allowing our government to get their hands on my health and well being. Once you let them in, they will control every aspect of your life. What food you eat, if you drink, if you smoke, and even if you are worth keeping around if you get sick. Not to mention, it will cost 4 times as much as they estimate!!

Bull! Everyone needs affordable health care. People on medicaid get it, people on medicare get it, but the ones in the middle can't afford it. Health care isn't a luxury....it's a must have!!

Thank you Governor Rounds for standing up for SD and keeping us as close to budget as humanly possible in these economic times. He is seeing what the congress doesn't. We need to change some practices by insurance companies yes...trying to overhaul the entire system and making the gov't a part is a nightmare. Look at Native American Healthcare as your first example of what is to come. Oh and Medicare the the Post Office that are broke... This is not "change" we can believe in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
