Late Thursday night Hanson County Sheriff Mark Kessler announced two people had been arrested for the murder of 16-year old Jasmine Guevara.
Guevara was last seen Tuesday night in a green 1999 Chevy Malibu. That's the same type of car that was found burned-up in a rural area of northern Hanson County, also on Tuesday night. A body was found inside that burned car.
Sheriff Kessler tells Action News while a positive ID has not been made on that body their investigation leads them to believe it is Jasmine Guevara.
Sheriff Kessler also tells Action News the investigation shows Guevara was murdered before her body was placed in the car and before it was set on fire. Kessler would not tell Action News how Guevara was killed.
We have also learned the two suspects, a fifteen-year old female and a 20-year old man identified as Alexander Salgado were casual acquaintances.
Mitchell police detectives told Action News late on Thursday night that Salgado has a history of violent crime. They say Salgado is a member of an Indiana based street-gang and had only been living in the Mitchell area for about a month.
While these two arrests are all that are anticipated for the moment Hanson County Sheriff Mark Kessler tells Action News more arrests are possible if new evidence of others involvement comes to light.
