Secreatary of State Hilary Clinton made a surprise visit in Afghanistan Wednesday. She arrived in Kabul to attend Thursday inauguration of president Hamid Karzi. She also met with us Military Commander in Afghanistan General Stanley McChrstal. The visit also comes while President Obama is currently considering a revamped war strategy for Afghanistan and options include adding more U.S. troops.
Someone very familiar with talk of the military. Colonel Oliver North was in town Wednesday speaking at the Law Enforcement Apprecaition Dinner.
Colonel Oliver North just wrote his 11th book, "American Heroes: In the Fight Against Radical Islam." A book where he talks about the heroes who have and are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan but it's the war in Afghanistan that the Colonel says the president needs to stand up and make the tough decisions.
Colonel Oliver North feels now is the time to respond to the increased danger our troops are in by sending more. General Stanley McChrystal has called on President Barack Obama for more troops in order to win the war.
colonel oliver north says troops he's spoken to on the ground are waiting for the president's decision, "It's the very first time in now almost 9 years of covering this war that I've actually talked to troops that are saying what are we here for if we're not going to win. And so uncertainty is never a friend of a victory."
The Colonel says delay is not a friend, imbevilence is not helpful to either our allies and certainly encourages our advicaries.
"I guess if there's a message at all it ought to be to everyone of your viewers ought to go up and say to their elected officials, we need to give the General what he's asked for and we need to get that additional resources over there as fast as we possibly can," said the Colonel.
