Pilot - Cocaine

By Associated Press

Authorities say a Northwest Airlines pilot was caught with suspected cocaine after leading sheriff's deputies on a chase.

The chase began last night after the Saint Clair County sheriff's department says the pilot made a U-turn on the Blue Water Bridge, which connects the United State and Canada at Port Huron.

Authorities say 50-year-old Walter Dinalko of St. Paul (Minnesota) apparently had a change of heart after driving a rented Hummer onto the bridge toward Sarnia, Ontario.

The sheriff's department says a user's quantity of suspected cocaine was found in the vehicle.

Dinalko was arraigned on charges of cocaine possession, eluding police, resisting officers and operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs. He was released after posting 10-thousand dollars bond.

The sheriff's department says Dinalko had flown yesterday afternoon to Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
