We're learning more about the community response in Mitchell to the death of 16-year-old Jasmine Guevara.

Late Thursday night, a positive i-d was made on Guevara's body at a state lab in Pierre.
Her body was found in a burned out car last week in Hanson County.

We also were able to get a question answered late this afternoon about the status of one of the suspect charged with her murder.

Hanson County prosecutors say two people are responsible for the death of 16-year-old Jasmine Guevara, whose body was found in a burned out car in a rural area of the county on November 10th.
One of them is this man, 20-year-old Alexander Salgado of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The second suspect is a 15-year-old girl identified in court papers as "M-D".
Action News has been working to determine if this girl will be tried as an adult for Jasmine Guevara's murder.
Hanson County States Attorney Jim Davies told Action News that determination will be made by a judge after a thorough review of the evidence, including a confession she gave to investigators.
When that determination will be made, davies would not speculate.
We also learned the Will Funeral Home in Mitchell has offered Guevara's family a free funeral.
A spokesman for the funeral home says he has yet to hear if her family will accept the offer or not.

A candlelight vigil will be held in Jasmine Guevara's honor Monday night in Mitchell as part of the city's "Parade of Lights" event.

Try her as an adult... because that's all she deserves... it was her idea so why should she live? so that she can be let out in a few years and do it again. maybe she should hav thought about that. if they don't try here as an adult there is something seriously wrong with this court system

Absolutely the 15 yr old should be tried as an adult. No matter the evidence. She definitely knows right from wrong at that age. Why should she have a life when she & someone else has taken someone elses. I hope they both rot in @#$#%

All I have to say is, "if you are old enough to do the crime, you are old enough to do the time!"
