Action News received a statement from the family of 12-year-old Tyler Newville, who died Friday from complications of the H1N1 Flu.

Tim and Renee Newville say, "...Tyler was an amazing kid with a tender heart and compassion beyond measure. He always greeted people with open arms and left them with a smile on their face..."

The family also wants to stress tonight the importance of getting immunized and taking every precaution to prevent the spread of H1N1.

Actually I had confirmed H1N1 flu and you know what I got? A sore throat and a slight fever for like 3 days. This is because I was a healthy 21 yeard old. It wasn't even as bad as the regular flu I had last year. If you have young children or are around old people that's when you need to worry.

H1N1 is not stomach flu as many people think. It is deadly. We ALL need to take influenza seriously. Even individuals who do not worry about getting it need to be vaccinated (when it is available) to help prevent others from getting it and possibly dying from it. My heart aches for this family and for Tyler's education team, friends, healthcare team, and rescue personnel. You can bet this boy felt their caring presence.
