Sioux Falls School District 49-5

By KSFY Staff

Tonight, the school board moved ahead with plans to open a new type of high school. It's curriculum would be focused around the idea of "project based learning." Students would work in small groups, there would be no textbooks, instead students would use the internet to research and study. Students would tell teachers what they need to learn in order to complete class projects.

Dr. Pam Homan with the Sioux Falls School District commented. "The students become fully accountable for the manner in which they receive, process, think through and solve problems."

The school would be housed on the campus of Southeast Tech and is set to open next August, providing grant money for teacher development is approved.
