Minnesota Newborn Tips The Scales At 15 Pounds

Tools

Axel Laverne Dolton weighed 15.6 pounds when he was born last week in Rochester, Minnesota.

By KSFY Staff

Wendi Dolton thought it was a mistake when her doctor told her last week she has given birth to a 15 pound baby.

It was no mistake: 15.6 pounds to be exact and believe it or not the little boy, Axel Laverne, was born three weeks premature.

The little guy is in the neo-natal intensive care unit at a hospital in Rochester, being monitored for a heart condition common in preemies. He should be just fine.

And all the clothes Wendi and her husband Mike bought for their newborn? He's already outgrown them.

yanktonmom, GOD does not do miricals on amputees, its the only group of people he dont do that for, personally I think GOD hates amputees cause he wont ever help them and do a mirical for them !!! ever notice that ??? Also he might want that baby to be big and fat so he can be a sumo wrestler. So tell GOD unless he starts helping the amputees out a little people are not gonna think he is so pouplar.

4:13 anonymous --- I am not being dramatic or a whiner the things I stated in my posts are reality of what happens in public schools--and how people treat others with no regards to other peoples feelings. And to make such statements about an innocent child is very immature and wrong it is bullying the parents of this baby have feelings too.You cant judge a book by its cover. Good Parents love their children unconditionally.I do agree with to whom it may concern 4:47pm and thankyou for backing me

My father had an uncle that just recently passed away at the age of 80 yrs--he weighed 13 lbs when he was born --as a adolecent and adult he WAS NOT overweight the proof is in all of the pictures I have seen of him so lets not start throwing stones at this baby who is only days old.

I agree with Yanktonmom. What is wrong with people bullying a preemie? I think it is wonderful that the baby is doing so well.Shall we get a picture of the bullies on here and see what makes them so perfect? Wish it was an option, would be fun to dish it back to 'em and see how they handle it :)

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU who are making fat comments this child has hardly began life and he is already being bullied no wonder kids bully at school they are growing up with it from their parents as acceptable behavior. This baby is one of Gods children.. if he was born missing a limb would you all be making comments that are cruel then? There is a plan for everyone- who are we to ? or comment so negatively on Gods child-?Remember what comes around goes around and people do have feelings !!!!!!

maybe they can give him liposucktion, or a gastric bypass or what ever you call it!!! I think he will be just fine as long as his parents dont feed him a bunch of cookies and potato chips all the time and just let him gourge out on junk food. They will learn to accept him or they can always give him up for adoption !!!

Oh my goodness-- what is wrong with people now days -- I was tought that if you don't have something good to say about someone --do not say anything at all!!-I hope that the little guy is doing good and I am sure that his parents love him the way that he is -- so what he was born at a weight that is not normal for a newborn -- but we all are different in one way or another and just because he has a high birhtweight does not mean he will have weight issues when older.CONGRATS to the parents!

The last few comments on here are completely uncalled for! You people should be ashamed. This is a beautiful, healthy baby. You have no right to judge the mother or the child based on the childs weight. Birth weight doesn't mean anything compared to what your adult way will be. And the childs weight doesn't mean the mother is overweight. Congrats to the parents. He's adorable!

Usually that happens with gestanional diabetes...the mother doesn't necessarily have diabetes to begin with but can develop a form of it during pregnancy.

I'm diabetic. My 1st baby was 4lb 15 oz. My 2nd was 6lbs 10oz.

I bet mom was diabetic. That contributes to large babies.
