Another wind farm is being proposed for the Buffalo Ridge area.
Project leaders will outline the scope of the Buffalo Ridge III Wind Project Wednesday evening during an open-house meeting in Clear Lake.
The wind farm would occupy about 30 square miles near Toronto and White.
Heartland Wind LLC proposes to build the 170-megawatt wind generation facility and 115-kilovolt transmission line in Deuel and Brookings counties.
Heartland Wind is a subsidiary of the Spanish company Iberdrola.
Heartland-Iberdrola already operates the 54-megawatt Minn-Dakota wind farm and the 55-megawatt Buffalo Ridge I wind farm.
In April, the company received approval for the 306-megawatt Buffalo Ridge II wind project.
Wednesday's meeting will begin the process for an environmental impact statement.
