USD Freshman With H1N1 Says "It Was Scary"

By KSFY Staff

A couple of weeks ago, USD Freshman Kelsey Mullenix had a case of H1N1 so bad, she was near death in the ICU at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

But today, it was a much different story, as she addressed Action News for the first time since being released from the hospital last week.

"Cause i didn't know that i had been asleep for 9 days, I didn't know that I had a breathing tube so I was just kinda lying in the hospital learning how to swallow apple sauce that was probably my first memory after that getting to visit with my family and realized how serious it was...it was pretty emotional," said Kelsey.

There's a benefit for Kelsey Mullenix this Saturday.

It will be held at Boston's Restaurant from Noon to five p.m.
