H1N1 at Epidemic Level

By Cliff Chandler

According to the World Health Organization, the H1N1 flu is considered at an epidemic level. Sioux Falls City Health Director Judy Buseman says health care workers are seeing patients daily.

Buseman says that since this is a new flu and because we have no immunity the virus has the potential to spread rapidly.

She says the seasonal flu also makes up many cases locally as well as nationally.

The Department of Health stresses that handwashing and taking proper precautions when you feel ill are key at this time.

The H1N1 vaccine arrived in Sioux Falls yesterday and first responders were vaccinated. This means that citizens are one step closer to receiving the vaccine.
